Favorites and nostalgia
May. 20th, 2003 05:05 pmIf you like complex discussion of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, I highly recommend Slayage. Avoid this if you find yourself prone to saying, "It's just a tv show!" or if you hated college literature classes (the essays often deconstruct the show as a literary form or psychological form).
One of the things I've always liked about Buffy is how metaphorical it is. Frequently, I find metaphor to be an easier language than English; I'm just odd that way, I suppose.
In that vein, a while ago I saw a bunch of people listing their favorite characters in various animes, so I figured I'd jump on the bandwagon (late). I seem to always have the 'psychic one' (for lack of a better phrase) in my list (e.g. Nokoru, Quatre, Hisoka) and there's a dearth of evil characters. I also seem to frequently include the 'spunky girl' (e.g. Meime, Tohru, Sakura). Anyone else see any trends?
Writing that table took me back years... when I started my web page, everything was manual. Wordpad was my vehicle, and then word before it formated all .html with loads of unnecessary meta-data. I've forgotten so much since I've started using programs! That's not precicely a complaint, but it was very nostalgic to type out a table by hand (with all the inherent problems there-in).
