You have to wonder what leads four friends of someone to lure him to a place and kill him. [link]. The teens say the motive was robbery - they took $125 each from his just-cashed paycheck - but it reads more like a thrill kill, including the requisite destroying of the victims face that goes along wit these sorts of murders. Drugs were certainly involved, as was the influence of a pair of regular lawbreakers. And for some reason, the journalist saw the need to include - in paragraph 7 no less! - that they were listening to the Beatles song 'Helter Skelter'. Riiiiiiiiiiight. Charles Manson's ghost obviously following the song and inciting murder in those who listen to it.

...and I just had an asshole on the phone.

He asked if 'Len Haynes' (aka the president) was available. I said he wasn't and would he like to leave a message in voice mail (standard these days when I can hear 30+ people talking in the background and the sound of a call center).

"Why the hell isn't he available?" says he.

"Excuse me?" says I.

"I'm sorry. You know, you sound gorgeous. Hope you don't mind me saying that," says he.

"I do mind," says I.

"Why, are you ugly?" says he.

"May I ask who's calling?" says I.

"Certainly" says he, right before he hangs up.

Okay, maybe asshole is too strong a term... but he certainly pissed me off! Not that that's difficult these days. I will never understand why some guys feel it necessary to comment on the appearance of girls they don't even know! Especially over the phone. I think what pissed me off most was he used that 'popular guy teasing unpopular girl' tone, which I've always disliked. It's like the dark side of the sempai/kohai relationship.
