Dolorous - word for the day
Oct. 15th, 2003 04:28 pm*does a little dance* People keep saying I'm interesting and smart and reading my journal! Thankyouthankyouthankyou!!! You all are so nice. What did I ever do to deserve you? (
learan I'm already anticipating the "You're adorable" comment, so don't disappoint me! ;)
Sweatshops are ebil!
An interesting take on cultural changes.
Anarchist vs. Libertarian (though, to be honest, the anarchist seems to dislike true anarchy and appears more an ideal communist).
The amusing thing about this whole discussion is how divorced from it we all are. No one has any information about what the people who work these jobs actually think of it. Likewise, few of those calling for a ban of sweatshop using companies seem to have any compassion for those working low-income jobs here, in a place where one dollar won't get you much. Life is brutish and short, sometimes; cope.
Feminists are ebil!
I had forgotten about Maddox's take on feminists until something else on LJDrama reminded me. Check it out! I wear pants and don't shave my pits and can't stand pornography! Learn a new thing every day. ;) Actually, I agree with a lot of what he says, I simply don't agree with the hyperbole.
Amusement value. A while back (in a friends journal, then transported to her own), my troll claimed that Asatru was a subset of Wicca, thus I was lying when I said I wasn't Wiccan. Everyone I told this to laughed themselves silly. (If you're not aware, Wicca is one branch of paganism and is derived from Gerald Gardner's work, among others. Asatru is Norse reconstructionalism. The two don't even have the same people involved, though they did start taking shape around the same time.) I just found out today where she probably found this gem of wisdom: the U.S. Military. Apparently, Asatru (along with Pagan) is listed as a subset of Wicca (as of 1997) in the Military Chaplain's Handbook. Since this individual has ties to the U.S. Military, I feel it's safe to speculate that's where she got it. I remain, as ever, amused.
Song Lyrics:
I had a dream that I could fly
I can feel each moment as time goes by
We never be too far away
You would always be here I heard you say
I never thought... thought that it would be our last good bye
I still can dream that one day love will fall out from the sky
Do you still remember, all the time that has gone by?
Do you still believe that, love can fall out from the sky?
If from where your standing, you can see the sky above
I'll be waiting for you, if you still believe in love.
