Lots of Links, not much me
Jul. 10th, 2003 05:19 pmI had the most fun yesterday abusing my power. I've only ever been a moderator on a bbs, where you couldn't harmlessly abuse your power, so I'd never goofed off before like that and it was fun, especially since I was grappling with the Phase II Proposal of DOOM at the time. Fifty pages of text. Le sigh. I'll get it back today, make any needed changes on it and (hopefully) upload it. The due date is the 14th, so we're doing okay time wise, but I'm hoping to get some phase I proposals before the two weeks of death start in August and I don't want to be bogged down in a phase II proposal for NASA when I'm wrestling with phase I proposals for the Department of Defense. I'm looking forward to not being a receptionist for a while, though! I love my job, but sometimes I wish people would stop interrupting me!!
I have discovered a rather cool LiveJournal community,
customers_suck. It's essentially an eternally updating amusement factor. I doubt I'll have much to contribute, I only rarely get evil calls, but it's certainly hysterical to read. And, for the other side of the fence,
bad_service. Hee hee. I've never actually worked retail, but several of my friends and I try to cheer up and/or amuse one store employee a day when we're running errands. It's fun!

Apparently, Stonehenge was built to resemble a huge vulva. Color me surprised! Can you imagine being the model for that!
Oh, and for all of us who love Harry, come and buy his house so you can be a boring Dursley. Personally, I'm waiting for Hogwarts to go on the market!

As you can no doubt see, I'm playing with colors now. I figured I should credit to the places I get my links from! Some stuff I just randomly find, though, or it's a link from a link from a link so I consider it worked for. I'll be playing with the colors for a while

Welcome to the Internet. Now go away.
A new place to find political rants is Steve Kirsch Political Homepage. He wrote an interesting piece about The Six Lessons of 911. I don't agree with everything he says, but he puts forth an interesting opinion; now I just need to track down a Republican opponent who doesn't descend to ad hominem attacks and I'm good.
This is a lovely collage website. The object is to combine a large number of pictures to me a cohesive representation of a place. Some of the locations are beautiful.

Disney is trying to turn your children into transsexuals. < News Link >
And, in new I'm probably the only one who will be thrilled about, there's a ninth doctor for Doctor Who! I'm psyched. It says fully animated, so I'm not sure exactly what they'll be doing to my favorite sci-fi show, but I can't wait to see it anyway!
This is absolutely horrifying. It makes me sincerely wish the Christian god intervene when his name was used to support brutality and horribleness. I can't imagine being a child in Uganda, sleeping on the streets of a city because you could be kidnapped then raped, forced to kill, or mutilated. I'm not a usual "think of the children" sort of person, but this is horrific. I can't believe the police there can't catch this madman!
Once more The Matrix is blamed for a bunch of teenagers deciding that killing people is a good idea. Ironically, despite what the media tries to portray, the first Matrix movie came out after the Columbine shootings. I smell a confound!
A movie theater has decided to create an adult only venue and turn away any children under six - even if accompanied by an adult. Huzzah! I'll never forget going to X-2 and having a mother with her 1 year old child sitting several seats away. When the kid fussed, she'd stick something in its mouth. If I lived in this area, I'd be at this theater so fast!
A study was done on video game players and the results will surprise everyone but the video game players. Did you realize girls play video games? Uh huh. Uh huh. Did you realize that game playing can be social? My word! Did you realize that frequently game playing does not interfere with school work? Lawsy, whatever will happen next!

Oh, and apparently we're getting gouged by the cable company. Shocker.
