Heaven is funny pictures.
Some of my favorites:
A Nidstang is a powerful curse put against an enemy; there are a ring of digital Nigstaves around the world against those who misuse the symbols of Nordic myth for their own discriminatory ends. Check it out. And here is one of the websites hosting it that looks very, very interesting. Now to lurk, and perhaps eventually ask questions. The person who runs it seems to have his/her head on straight, which is always nice; I get so very tired of the 'I have this great book, now let's do a spell to curse my ex-best-friend because she stole my boyfriend, the bitch.' Of course, I also get tired of the 'Oh, I can't curse anyone, that would be causing them harm!' mindset, too, so what is required is a balance.
Have I mentioned lately I hate having to balance???
Beautiful art, notably the Loki representations. I like.
Article on Shonen vs. Shojo. For those who are non-anime fans, Shonen is Anime and Manga meant for boys and Shojo is Anime and Manga meant for girls.
Sometimes I wish I had more self-control... or at least more foresight.

FEBRUARY:
Abstract thoughts. Loves reality and abstract. Intelligent and clever. Changing personality.Attractive. Sexy. Temperamental. Quiet, shy and humble. Honest and loyal. Determined to reach goals. Loves freedom. Rebellious when restricted. [Ed. depends on if it's chosen restriction or not; thrives under chosen restriction.] Loves aggressiveness. Too sensitive and easily hurt. Gets angry really easily but does not show it. Dislike unnecessary things. Loves making friends but rarely shows it. Daring and stubborn. Ambitious. Realizing dreams and hopes. Sharp. Loves entertainment and leisure. Romantic on the inside not outside. Superstitious and ludicrous. Spendthrift. Tries to learn to show emotions.
...Interesting. Very interesting. The more I look at it, the more my mind tries to come up with explanations and to test my actual preferences against these rather one-sided and inexorable statements. Technically, you could argue I do like aggressiveness, since I adore martial arts, weapon play, and action movies, but I'm rather strongly non-violent in my day-to-day living unless someone seriously pisses me off - and that hasn't happened in years. The fact that February is associated with masks is interesting, too; I wonder if my creation of them was inevitable given the month I was born in, or if my creation of them is a distinctly separate thing from the orlog of my life. Hmmm... Oh, and yes, I'm overanalysing. It's fun.
Some of my favorites:
Don't cheat outside your species, it's too obvious
Police cars aren't supposed to go there
a loser's keyboard
Say...what???
How about a nice cup of STFU?
I will use google before asking dumb questions.
Hatsu-Haru's upgrade
Boom!
...and the kitty will lay down with the mouse...
Make good use of all dimensions in your dorm room!
I need one of these!
You make kitty scared!

Date: 2003-11-11 02:38 pm (UTC)I doubt it, as well. It seems like most of the digital Nigstave's are against people I'd cheerful remove from society if I could.

Date: 2003-11-11 02:14 pm (UTC)Ever cursed anyone? I haven't per se, but have done "hey, justice $deity, you might want to look at this" rituals, "hey, war goddess, help me to be strong and fight this battle" work, and "I think this is fair so I am directing my energies to make it happen". Usually I don't feel that I myself have enough knowledge of a situation to know whether a full-out cursing is justified, so I err on the side of caution and leave that up to the divinities whose job it is.
Cursing
Date: 2003-11-11 02:53 pm (UTC)I agree wholeheartedly with the cursing of those who would use Norse Symbology to forward their own discriminatory ends, though; the Thor's Hammer is not a symbol of 'White is Right.' I find it rude and annoying and offensive, and it clouds a number of very delicate areas that could otherwise be explored. And, of course, it makes no sense!!! Being pale-skinned, and light-haired does not mean one has Norse ancestry! Nor does being dark and dark mean one does not have kin among the Norse. It's a smoke screen of superiority, and I'm all for doing everything we can to trip them up and make their lives difficult until they stop having their heads stuck up their collective asses.
Honestly, there are very few things that get me as pissed off as that, though, and it would annoy me significantly less if they would just stop using the trappings of my religion to justify themselves. Even when I was betrayed the worst, I still cared about the person hurting me; what's the point in hurting someone you love? I've also found that, frequently, when people are hurtful toward me it's because of factors in their life and has very little to do with me; those factors are often curse enough, without me getting involved in them at all.
Re: Cursing
Date: 2003-11-11 03:26 pm (UTC)And yes, cursing the people who take the symbolism of your religion and use it for such discriminatory purposes is fair enough in my eyes.
Other things that get me as pissed off as that: rape. Physically stronger or more socially powerful people who use that power to prey on those weaker than them. Selfish manipulative bastardry. The problem with all of those is that I've seen a *lot* of cases of false accusations. So I'd want to be really, really sure that I wasn't misunderstanding something or wrong before I cursed someone.
