I have a clean room!!! It seems like it's been ages since I've been happy with my room; ignoring a wreck does NOT count as happy. Also, my plants (save for the poor lavender) are doing fantastically! It even looks like my Goblin flower is going to blossom soon. The tomatoes are getting so large; I'm going to stake a couple of them tonight.

I have found a resource for etiquette, along with snarky commentary and Random Capitalization. It's fairly funny and they bring up a few good points. The Etiquette Grrls.

Bob Levy had a funny note in his column about "If Your Number Is Almost Someone Else's." For a year, my friends lived at an apartment whose phone number was the one listed for an escort service - Dixie's Southern Bells. We ended up having the most fun with it! Once, one of the flatmate's sisters kept this poor guy on the phone for a good ten minutes getting all the details of what he wanted (blond or brunette? thin or fat? Cup size?) only to tell him that he had a wrong number at the end! The penultimate answer, though, was when the very deep voiced, male flatmate answered the phone (it was 12:30, so we were fairly certain it was one of the gentlemen calling for Dixie's) with, "Dixie's Southern Belles, Dixie speaking." And then, of course, there was the poor girl who left a message on our answering machine because she had just moved to the area and needed a job and "I'm a southern belle, of course." I still miss that number, sometimes.

1. Is there a song that's so beautiful, it makes your heart break?
"Yakusoku wa Iranai (I Don't Need A Promise)," the intro song to Vision of Escaflowne. It's in Japanese, but the translation of the meaning is lovely, and the song itself carries such grace and grief. My favorite part is one of the last verses: "I call out to you now with my tears. I don't need promises or such things, because of the precious strength that you've given me."

2.What is your favorite song ever that you can relate to? Why?
I actually have a whole soundtrack I put together once. Music is such a powerful way for me to experience the intensity of my emotions in a culturally acceptable way that my obsession with it has grown quite a but over the years! Probably, at the moment, one of the most critical songs for me is "Breaking the Habit," by Linkin Park. There's also "Away From Me", by Evanescence, which punches me in the gut whenever I hear it.

Today's question is from our sidebar of suggestions: Pet Peeves! We all have them! Write about one of yours.
Telemarketers who act like friends. It's such a low thing to do. If you want to sell me something, let me know so I can tell you to go away. Acting like I should know you and be friendly with you will not win you a sale - it will just piss me off.

The Jetsons.

4. "Superman" or "Batman" (either the TV shows or the movies)?
Batman.

5. "Sex & The City" or "Friends"?
Friends.

6. "The Wizard of Oz" or the "Harry Potter" movies?
I can't choose here; I love them both beyond belief.

7. "The Simpsons" or "King of the Hill"?
The Simpsons.

8. "Grease" or "Saturday Night Fever"?
Grease.

9. Old prime-time soaps: "Dallas" or "Dynasty"?
Neither. I've avoided both.

10. Not very thought-provoking this week...do you prefer TV shows or movies?
At this point, TV shows. Most of my current favorites are in the same style as TV shows. Of course, outside of fashion and design reality shows, I'm a total otaku.
